Free Form Painting into Drawing

“Drawing has been described as an essential aspect of an artist’s life, as it is for all the artists in the Dobell Australian Drawing Biennial”…..and in this workshop participants will view this exhibition in the gallery and respond to it in Peter Griffen’s Leichhardt studio.

To begin, unrestricted drawing will be encouraged using variations in pace, techniques, drawing materials, whatever makes a mark, and so on. The incorporation of collage and found objects will be suggested.

Drawing could be carried out both days or may lead to painting combined with the drawing; for example, water colour washes over charcoal, pencils, ripped paper and gesso or acrylic and pastel combinations.

Acrylic paint and cartridge paper will be supplied but it is suggested that participants bring their own brushes and drawing mediums according their desire, charcoal, pencils, ink, pastels, crayons, graphite, and spray fixative.
